Terms of Service

1. The service

Carded helps you check that buyers of the age-restricted products you choose meet a minimum age. After checkout it asks the buyer to verify a government-issued ID through our ID verification provider, records the result, and applies the actions you set in the app, such as tagging or holding an order. Features and limits depend on your plan and may change as the app develops.

2. Your responsibility for compliance

Carded is a tool, not legal advice. You decide which products need a check, the minimum age, the ID rules and what happens to orders that fail, and you remain responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your products, your store and your customers. We do not promise that using Carded makes your business compliant with any law, and no ID check can rule out every false or borrowed document. Check your obligations with your own lawyer.

You are the controller of your customers' personal data. You are responsible for telling your customers about the check (for example in your store's privacy policy) and for having a lawful basis for it. Our Privacy Policy explains how Carded handles that data on your behalf.

3. Plans and billing

Plans, prices and included checks are shown in the app and on our Shopify App Store listing. All charges are billed through Shopify, appear on your Shopify invoice, and are subject to Shopify's billing terms. We never receive your payment card details. You approve a paid plan, including any limit on usage charges, in Shopify before it applies, and a price change to a paid plan needs your approval in Shopify. 4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use Carded for anything unlawful, or to collect ID data for any purpose other than the age checks you set up;
• use verification records to profile, market to, or discriminate against your customers;
• try to break, overload, reverse engineer or get around the security or limits of the app;
• access other merchants' data, or share your access to the app with anyone not entitled to it;
• resell the service or offer it to third parties as your own.

You must also follow Shopify's terms and policies, which apply alongside these terms.

5. Availability

We work to keep Carded running, but we do not guarantee that it will be available at all times or free of errors. The app depends on Shopify and on our sub-processors, including the ID verification provider, and may be interrupted by their outages, by maintenance, or by events outside our control. Where we can, we will give notice of planned maintenance. You can always approve or reject an order manually in the app.

6. Liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost sales or lost data, or for fines or claims that result from your products, your store or your compliance decisions. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claims relating to Carded is limited to the fees you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence.

7. Ending the service

You can stop using Carded at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin. Uninstalling ends these terms and stops future charges; Shopify handles any final billing. Your data is then deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the app, and where possible we will tell you first.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above. If a change is material, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Carded after that, the new terms apply.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking to us first will be settled by the competent courts of Bulgaria, unless the law requires otherwise.
